• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with a range of learning disabilities, ensuring alignment with provincial curriculum standards and student goals.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify student strengths and areas for development, utilizing data to inform instructional planning and modifications.
• Provide direct, explicit instruction to small groups and individual students, employing evidence-based strategies tailored to specific learning needs.
• Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment for students.
• Monitor student progress regularly, meticulously documenting observations, assessments, and interventions, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Integrate assistive technology and adaptive tools into lesson plans to enhance student engagement and access to the curriculum.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing informed insights and advocating for student needs.
• Maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes self-advocacy and a love of learning among all students.

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification with qualifications in Special Education.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience teaching students with diverse learning needs in a K-12 setting, preferably within a Canadian educational system.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating IEPs, with a strong understanding of differentiated instruction and universal design for learning.
• Proficiency in administering and interpreting educational assessments and using data to inform instructional practices.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external support services to ensure comprehensive student support.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
• Familiarity with current research and best practices in special education, and a willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
• Experience in integrating technology into the classroom to support student learning and engagement.
